Hero of the Week: Kahruvel

Each week we will select one helpful member of the Allods community to become the Hero of the Week! One of our goals is to build a positive community and we really do appreciate players who go above and beyond the call of duty to help other players. These Heroes could be players that help answer players’ questions, write resourceful archetypes guides, send in detailed bug reports, or even host in-game events. We are proud to introduce Allods Online’s third Hero of the Week, Kahruvel! We have chosen Kahruvel to be our Hero of the Week! Something we really appreciate from Kahruvel is his willingness and attention to the technical support section of the forums. Since our Allods Team advises players to directly contact us for official technical support via email, it’s great to have players such as Kahruvel helping players who post on the forums about their issue. Besides providing general advice and answering players’ questions, another noteworthy forum contribution is that Kahruvel has constructed and compiled a list of post-1.1 patch bugs that players have posted about in the bugs section of the forums. With this compilation, players who browse the forums will be familiar with current in-game issues. Character name: Admonitor Server: Nezeb Faction: Empire Archetype: Scout Guild: Ordo Imperialis 1. How long have you been playing Allods Online? Not too long ago, actually. I started playing Allods a couple of months ago, when a fellow guild member gave it a shot and invited me to join him. Soon, roughly 70 of us from Ordo Imperialis had a character, myself included. I fell in love with the community very quickly, so I’m here to stay. 2. What advice would you offer to new players? The forum is the greatest resource you can use. If you ever have trouble with a quest, there’s always another person out there who had just as much trouble and is willing to share their experience of victory. If you’re having trouble with an instance, and just absolutely can not find a good group to help you through, there are plenty of level 40s who will run you for free too, so ask around! If you’re looking for some great loot, always be willing to explore. You may find a crowned mob with a really good drop, or even a raid boss, and gain an opportunity to get very nice equipment. Also, sometimes quests are hidden away in lesser-traveled portions of the world – even World Mystery quests! – so exploration could get you something valuable like a Ruby or an Epic weapon. And finally, try to get into a guild, and travel with them. Not only does the extra firepower come in handy, but some quests can only be completed with groups of players and those quests give the best rewards. 3. What is your favorite in-game experience? About a week ago, I was part of a group that was pulling through a long, difficult heroic dungeon. Beginning two hours before the daily quest reset, we figured we had plenty of time to complete it, and so we started with five people in our party. Our party made it half-way through with very little trouble, until our healer crashed out and our psionicist had to leave. With only three of us left – a Scout, a Paladin, and a Mage – we continued to push on, just barely pulling through each battle and trying to find other players in our guilds to come help us out. The dungeon continued to beat us to a pulp. But finally, within the last 30 minutes, we were each able to find someone to fill up the group. On the final stretch, it was a race against the clock to finish – slaughtering demons left and right as we bulldozed straight forward to the final boss, the Astral Executioner. When we reached the final chamber, we threw together a very hobbled plan – the tanks rumble in to distract the lesser mobs to give the rest of us enough time to get into position. We piled into mechanized suits and battled the massive demon boss, with only six minutes to spare. We defeated it quick, reaped our deserved loot (congrats again on that Epic off-hand, Buroth), and just barely had enough time to return to our capital and turn in the quest. We were cheering in Zone, Party, and Guild chat channels – the tension of having to fight difficult odds in such a blistering pace was finally relieved – a race to save the world, if I’ve ever seen one! 4. What made you decide to play a scout? What are your thoughts on the archetype? In every game I’ve ever played, I’ve always favored stealth and cunning instead of brute force. I typically play games involving tactics or strategy, so the ability to throw tactical “curveballs” at other players in PvP is an enticing lure. The archetype is so fun to play. It’s straightforward, too: Put out lots of damage, try not to get hit. The Scout has plenty of ‘escape’ skills to use when cornered, like flash bangs, special jumps, caltrops, and the ability to sprint. It’s also based on Energy rather than Mana, so there’s less to use but recharges very quickly. The ability to stun targets for extended periods of time is also great to have when in PvP, as it gives your team some time to get good hits in on a target without having to worry about it healing itself. And if that wasn’t enough, the class is perfect for killing casters, because Scouts can easily hit a caster outside of their attack range, having such an extremely long engagement distance. The Scout is my first MMO experience, and I’m so used to it by now that I can’t find it in my heart to play a different class. Knowing I can escape most sour situations makes me feel safe when I’m questing alone in a contested zone. To sum all of that up in simplest terms: Ninja with a crossbow. Freakin’ awesome. 5. Are there any players that you would like to shout out to who have helped make your time in Allods Online an awesome experience? Necroheals – Just as with everyone else here, our guild really wouldn’t be the same without you, Necro. You’ve done a lot for us, and we’re definitely thankful for it. ^^ Zeronight – You’re generous, you’re kind, you’re optimistic, and you’re always calm. The willingness to help others out is inspiring and admirable. Fuskenface – For being, erm, fusken-y… ish… Need I say more? Xayvien – You’ve helped me so much in life, (and in Allods too!) and for that I’m eternally grateful. Thanks for the interview, Kahruvel! Take it easy!
